Yes, Velvet is gorgeous. Yes, her fur really does look like velvet. Velvet is a stunning silver-frosted gray kitty with green eyes, hinting at likely Russian Blue heritage, though some cat fanciers think she looks more like a Chartreux. Whatever the heritage, Velvet looks fabulous.

Velvet is also confident cat, not a clinging vine. She is eager to greet you when you arrive home, and loves playing with you and being petted, but would prefer to be next to you rather than in your lap. She is your equal, after all!

Velvet is also happy entertaining herself with her toys: playing soccer and practicing her goalee skills, attacking a feather toy or a play mouse...but she might also claim your ipad to chase a digital mouse, or create some cool contemporary art (see pics below). Her current favorite toy is hacky sack, which she practices endlessly. When not doing that, Velvet enjoys running around and chasing her brother Victor or her current cat-pal, Sandro. With all that exercise, it is no wonder she has a muscular, athletic build!  She definitely seems to like the company of other cats, as she is exposed to several in her foster home, as well as two little Chihuahua-mix dogs.

Velvet and her brother, Victor, came from a neighborhood where residents tended not to spay or neuter their cats. As a result, the cat population exploded, and the residents took an unkind view of all the cats running loose in their streets. Some used rather drastic and illegal methods of trying to dispose of the neighborhood cats. Through the efforts of a local woman, residents were convinced to let rescuers trap, spay and neuter the cats, and now the colonies are under control. But Velvet and Victor were lucky to be removed from their difficult street life, and be taken into foster care.

The Fine Print — While Community Cat Rescue would love to make our adoptable cats and kittens available to everyone, everywhere, we must limit our adoption service area to San Francisco Peninsula cities and towns. We simply do not have the volunteer-power or financial resources to make home visits (required for all adoptions), delivery of adopted cats/kittens and follow-up visits outside the Peninsula. An occasional, rare exception might be made, but it is not the rule.

So give them a look, because adoption fees for solid black or black and white kittens are now only $25. All kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped with lifetime registration, tested for FIV/FeLV, and vaccinated, too.
